Now that the we’re live the updates are going to be more regimented and tested than the old wild west days of the private beta. So, that said, we pushed a new update live a bit ago (heh…) so I wanted to take a few minutes to go over what’s new and what’s changed so there aren’t too many surprises. We have the usual assortment of bug fixes and a new feature we’re hoping will interest the social influencers. Actually, now that I think about it, almost all the updates are for social influencers today. Sorry about that advertisers…
First, for bugs, we’ve squashed a couple annoying edge case bugs where the Vine totals weren’t calculating properly on social profile updates. Really odd bug, but thanks to a couple users who were willing to share some extra details with the dev team we got that one killed. On the plus side, that bug can’t ever come back, so at least there’s that.
The other bug we killed had to do with the search and ranges. I wish I could point to something obscure and say it wasn’t my fault but, nope, all me baby. I done goofed there. Whatever though, amirite? ‘Cause now you can search by ranges and it’ll be like it never happened. Unless you bring it up… which you’re not gonna do, right? ಠ_ಠ
In what is definitely not a bribe to forget the above silliness (nope, totally unrelated), we’ve also added some requested features (and a couple user interface updates) to this weeks release. Specifically:
- UX updates for accounting details
- Requirement to agree to the VITY terms of service on Campaign and Profile Creation
- The ability to view other social influencers in VITY
#1 & 2 should be fairly self explanatory, so I’m only going to go into detail on #3: social influencers can now view other social influencers. If you’re confused by this, know you’re not alone; I was too when the idea was first proposed internally. But after lengthy internal debate, where I think I was called out a little for being too rigid about my perception of privacy, it all started to make sense.
Who’s in VITY? Seriously? Who else is using VITY? How much is my account worth? What’s a good rate for me to charge? Before, no social influencer had a clue, so when it came to the question of what value an influencer was providing, or what company VITY was housing, there really wasn’t an easy answer. Now, any social influencer can see who else is in VITY and their details (and, of course, with the ability to opt-out). So, now if you’re curious what other influencers with your commiserate numbers charges for their campaigns you can.
